FIS De-Icing Liquid (FIS-DELI)
Description
FIS DE-ICING LIQUID is a glycol based, water-soluble deicing fluid. Quickly removes any formed ice by converting it into a glycol/water solution with a markedly lower freezing point.
Application
Applying FIS DEICING LIQUID when freezing conditions are imminent will prevent ice forming and inhibit compressed snow bonding on airport runways, roads, foot bridges, car parks and shopping centres.
FIS DEICING LIQUID can be applied using a backpack or boom sprayer and will not be blown from a surface in windy conditions. Road surfaces require an application of 15-20 g/m2 and walkways less than 10 g/m2 .
For auto traction, apply FIS DEICING LIQUID under spinning wheels.
Directions
As it may be reasonably expected that FIS DEICING LIQUID will still function effectively when diluted with over 50% water, in mild conditions (down to -4˚C) this is not recommended. Alternatively, a lower application rate of neat product is ultimately more cost effective in such conditions, as diluted de-icer has less capacity to melt ice than when applied neat.
Please download the technical datasheet to and refer to the table for an accurate guide of application rates.
Properties
Independent tests conducted by DERA (the Defence Research Agency) and the SMI (Scientific Materials International) show a 50:50 solution of FIS DEICING LIQUID and water has a depressed freezing point of -36˚C, as represented on the technical datasheet.
High Viscosity
Glycols are naturally found to have a high viscosity without the requirement for additional thickening agents. This means that in severe weather conditions FIS DEICING LIQUID will remain on a runway for long periods. The benefits being two-fold; the runway requires less frequent application of the product and also remains ice-free for an extended period. Under stable climatic conditions, FIS DEICING LIQUID will keep runways in a ‘black-top’ state for a minimum of 24 hours.
Environmental
Dispose of chemicals in accordance with local environmental legislation.
The environmental effect of a runway de-icer is rightly a primary consideration when determining which de-icer product to use. In independent tests carried out.
FIS DEICING LIQUID is shown to cause minimal environmental impact, rendering it harmless to grass, bushes and other vegetation. Please download technical datasheet for data table.
Handling
Normal precautions should be taken for handling chemicals. Protective clothing, eye protection, and gloves should be worn. For further details please refer to the safety data sheet.
