Marine FIS Engine Water Treatment (FISEWT)
Description
FIS-EWT is a nitrite-based engine water treatment. It is designed to inhibit corrosion in closed loop cooling systems. A blend of components to reduce the likelihood of corrosion in mild steel or other metal systems. FIS-EWT is compatible with glycol-based antifreeze.
Application
FIS-EWT should be mixed well with water before use. It is not recommended to be used with systems containing aluminium. Ideally the cooling system should be drained and refilled with a fresh dilution of FIS-EWT in water. Flush system to remove sludge and other solid matter. Add FIS-EWT directly to the cooling system. Use nitrite test strips to maintain nitrite levels in line with manufacturers guidelines. The dosage required is dependent on water conditions and other workplace requirements.
Dilutions
An initial dose of approximately 20L per MT of cooling water to achieve a nitrite level of about 2000 ppm. Monitor nitrite levels with test kits, supplied by FIS. Maintain nitrite levels between 1000 and 2000 ppm with additions of approximately 1L per MT of cooling water.

Dispose of chemicals in accordance with local environmental legislation
Handling
