FIS: You specialise in QHSEE. Can you give us a brief overview of your role and its main responsibilities?
Angela Gray: My role is to ensure that FIS meets all the relevant legislation, industry standards and compliance requirements. Alongside that, I oversee the day-to-day QHSEE activities that help maintain a safe, efficient workplace and a strong Integrated Management System (IMS).
Above all, my focus is on creating an environment where everyone can work safely and go home at the end of the day.
FIS: Why is QHSEE so important to a business like FIS Chemicals?
AG: FIS Chemicals is a forward-thinking company, and we all understand that a strong QHSEE culture supports that commitment while driving continuous improvement across the business. It underpins everything the business does.
"I've been welcomed by a great professional team, the working atmosphere is honestly the best I’ve experienced and it's hard to believe how quickly the time has passed."
FIS: What was your career path before joining the FIS team?
AG: Before joining FIS I spent 20+years in the oil and gas industry, mainly in the UK. I then transitioned into the marine sector, where I expanded my experience and developed a greater understanding of renewable energy.
I'd say the variety of industries I've worked in has given me a broad perspective that I bring to my role with FIS.
FIS: You recently celebrated one year with FIS. How would you describe your first year?
AG: It's been an incredibly enjoyable year. I've been welcomed by a great professional team, the working atmosphere is honestly the best I’ve experienced and it's hard to believe how quickly the time has passed.
FIS: Our 2025 ESG Report was recently published. What stood out to you most?
AG: In short — the progress. The decrease in resources used year on year is really evident, and the consistent approach and commitment to the vision, environment and development is clear to see.

FIS: What qualities make a great QHSEE professional?
AG: A good QHSEE professional is always looking for ways to improve.
They need to be customer-focused, lead by example and communicate effectively at every level of the business. Building a positive safety culture is all about collaboration, consistency and continuous improvement.
FIS: What has attributed to the success of FIS?
AG: Leadership and transparency. Those are two of the most important factors in driving high standards across a business and building the accountability needed to build on success.
FIS: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
AG: When I'm not at work, I enjoy painting, walking, reading and swimming.
