Stainless Steel Pickling Fluid 17 (STSTPIFL17)

Description

Stainless Steel Pickling Fluid 17 Is a mineral acid-based concentrate, which removes, rust, heat treatment and welding discolouration from ferrous metals. It can also be used for removal of corrosion from Aluminium, Copper and Zinc alloys although it is best to test the product in an inconspicuous area first. The product contains solvents and surfactants to aid in degreasing if contamination is light.

Application

Stainless Pickling Fluid 17 can be applied by immersion in a dip tank, brushing, spraying etc. Ensure adequate ventilation and that correct PPE is worn at all times.

To make up a bath for immersion put 50% of the required volume of water and make up to 100% using the pickling liquid. NEVER ADD WATER TO PICKLING LIQUID, ALWAYS ADD PICKLING LIQUID TO WATER. The actual concentration used will depend on the extent of rust, scale or other corrosion on the components being treated, the operating temperature and immersion time.

Acid concentration should be measured frequently and the pickling liquid topped up when needed. Detailed guidelines can be provided on this on request.

After treatment in Stainless Pickling Fluid 17, the components should be thoroughly rinsed with water. After rinsing, the components should be dried quickly to avoid flash rusting. When components are to be stored before painting or assembly, a suitable temporary protective coating should be applied.

Dissolved copper in the solution may deposit on Steel and Aluminium components. For this reason, copper components should not be processed through the same bath as steel components.

Dispose of chemicals in accordance with local environmental legislation.

Handling
